Dead Sea Works Ltd. (except for its chemical division) has adopted the concepts of Product Stewardship which, when put to practice, will allow for methodical identification of risks as associated with the product through the various phases of its life cycle and also for the elimination or mitigation or any such risks.

The company will therefore pursue the concepts as listed and described below:

  1. Leadership and management of all quality, safety, security, occupational health and environmental concerns in the production, transportation, distribution and sale of their products.

  2. Aspiration for zero harm and adverse environmental impact whilst maintaining a healthy workplace for all employees, contractual staff and visitors.

  3. Integration, maximum consideration and top prioritization of all quality, safety, security, occupational health and environmental concerns within the their corporate policies.

  4. Assurance of adequate financial and human resources as required for continual improvement of their quality, safety, security, occupational health and the environmental performance.

  5. Compliance and action beyond compliance with all applicable legal and other requirements through the use of the best available and cost effective technologies (BAT) and the aspiration for continual improvement in all of their product quality, safety, security, occupational health and the environmental efforts.

  6. Assurance and improvement of their quality, safety, security, occupational health and environmental performance against targets or goals.

  7. Setting of adequate procedures and controls as required in order to ensure that the quality, safety, security, occupational health and the environment are not jeopardized at any time or in any form.

  8. Verification that all employees and contractual staff are duly qualified and adequately trained for quality, safety, security, occupational health and environmental pursuits as related to their specific operations, and their encouragement to participate in further improvement efforts.

  9. Assessment of their own performance by the hazard and risk assessment method to secure continual improvement of the quality, safety, security, occupational health and environmental standards.

  10. Construction of such quality, safety, security, occupational health and environmental management systems which will be subject to internal and external auditing.

  11. Sharing of their own experience and lessons as related to quality, safety, occupational health and environmental pursuits with all employees and contractual staff, and also with other IFA members, except where legally constrained or where proprietary information is involved.

  12. Promotion of the quality, safety, security, occupational health and environmental concerns as required enhancing the social responsibility and accountability of the global fertilizer industry.
