ICL whose factories are located in the Negev, decided to support the initiative of protecting the birds of prey in the area, as well as assisting Israel's Nature and Parks Authority in preserving the vultures in the Negev.
With the help of ICL, Israel's Nature and Parks Authority is working on the following project with the following objectives:
- Providing high quality, non toxic food for vultures at a network of feeding stations
- Monitoring of the vulture population
- Education and promotion for the preservation of the vultures and birds of prey
The project began 3 years ago, and its duration is expected to last 5 more years. Results can be seen: 160 vultures live in the southern part of Israel, and they are maintaining the numeral stability, which is in contrast to the tendency that exists in the Mediterranean Sea.
