Precise, balanced targeted crop nutrition can help produce record-breaking crops and now one of ICL Fertilizers premium line of FertilizerpluS products has broken a record of its own: production and sales of Polysulphate in March this year exceeded the previous monthly record by 30 per cent.
Polysulphate begins as polyhalite, a natural mineral, found deep under the sea off the north east coast of the UK. Mined by ICL Boulby – the first and only polyhalite mine in the world – the polyhalite is brought up to the surface and processed ready to be marketed as Polysulphate and a journey to farmers’ fields.
In March, shipments of Polysulphate were made to farmers on four continents. Ships of all sizes booked into the ICL distribution terminal at Teesport to collect customer orders. Loads for China, Spain, Belgium as well as other ports of the UK were processed. One of the biggest orders was 20,000 tonnes on a ship destined for Brazil.
Plans are in place to continue to increase Polysulphate production. The target is a million tonnes a year by 2020. ICL FertilizerpluS is proving to be a trusted partner in the supply chain of quality fertilizer for crops and farmers around the world.
